In 2007, after many years of research and product development,
Boa-Franc introduced the next phase in the evolution of Mirage: Mirage Lock, an engineered floor with a locking joint system that could be installed without nailing or gluing. A combination of the quality for which Mirage has become known along with quick and easy installation, Mirage Lock maintains all the timehonored traditions of the brand: a wearlayer of genuine sawn hardwood, precision engineering and state-of-the-art finish.
Mirage Lock is made in single boards in five lengths. Each wide-plank board features a 3/32- inch surface layer of real hardwood with a finely milled micro-V joint on all four sides.
Mirage Lock also features Nanolinx, the company’s latest innovation in finishing which is available on all Mirage products. Introduced in 2006, Nanolinx uses nanotechnology to create a finish that is more flexible and more abrasion resistant. In fact, Mirage claims it is five times more resistant than most other competitive finishes. This exclusive finish contains antimicrobial agents to make the environment more hygienic and the floor easier to clean. But the biggest advance offered by Nanolinx is its improved transparency, which allows the natural beauty of the hardwood to show through more clearly than ever before.
This stable flooring can be installed over any subfloor such as wood, concrete, or concrete with radiant heat system—on, above or below grade. With the exclusive pivot and hook system, the sides and ends fit together in one simple motion without having to lift the plank or use a temporary support (wedge) to hold the planks. No glue, nails or staples are required, which means considerably less installation time and more profits. In other words, professional installers and even do-it-yourselfers can install twice as many floors in a single day.
Environmentally friendly productMirage Lock is also environmentally friendly. Its veneer base is made of wood species that are considered to be rapidly renewable materials, while its HDF core is constructed of up to 90% post-industrial recycled material. The wood is protected with a durable, environmentally friendly urethane containing no formaldehyde.
Thanks to the innovative technology employed, Mirage Lock uses six times less hardwood than the conventional 3/4-inch solid plank to cover the same floor surface. Finally, the Mirage Rightloc system is constructed to allow up to three reinstallations for a longer product life and cleaner environment. Mirage Lock is available in 45/16-inch planks in red oak and maple and comes in six colors.
