East Berlin, Pa.—Penn Wood Products Co., a pre-finished moldings, treads and risers manufacturer, has completed a major capital improvement plan on its 16-acre campus here, following damage caused by a fire last October.

The new facilities include a 5,000-square-foot library and lab, as well as a separate 10,000-square-foot sanding and finishing building.

During construction, product was continuously made in the areas not affected by the fire. Kilns, rough mill, molders, warehouses and offices were not involved.

The fire damaged a section of the building where Penn started in 1942 and burnt the front third of the 400-foot-long building and ruined some older manufacturing equipment. No employees were hurt during the event.
