Hicksville, N.Y.— Armstrong World Industries teamed with the Meredith Corp. and five of its major consumer magazines to bring “everyday getaways” into the homes of consumers nationwide. The companies aim to show how to make every home a place to relax and regroup by showcasing five separate in-home “escapes” designed by editors from Kitchen and Bath Ideas, Better Homes & Gardens, Country Home, Midwest Living, and Traditional Home.

The series of “everyday getaway” designs debuted in conjunction with the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) 2007 Design Idea Center at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. Each concept offers a comprehensive look at trends, tips and knowledge to rejuvenating at home. The designs include:

A Gardener’s Kitchen by Better Homes & Gardens depicts a garden right outside the house with amenities including a back deck with potting table, a kitchen library and coffee bar. It features Armstrong’s Bruce-branded Liberty Plains maple hardwood flooring in cappuccino.

Natural Inspirations by Traditional Home, offers a beach-style kitchen retreat for entertaining family and friends and features Armstrong’s Sugar Creek Solid Maple Plank hardwood flooring in pewter.

Back to Basics by Midwest Living, portrays a simple back-to-nature rustic feel in its converted barn retreat, which includes a kitchen and bath, and features Bruce-branded hardwood floors, American Originals Maple in Santa Fe.

Big Little House in the Woods by Country Home consists of a two-room cottage and inspires homeowners to create a downsized, cozy space that utilizes big design ideas and creative space solutions. It features Armstrong’s Hardwood Flooring Century Farm Collection Maple in antique cashew and sand dune.

Gourmet Traveler at Home by Kitchen and Bath Ideas, portrays the couple that enjoys travel and culinary explorations and includes a wine-tasting room and Armstrong’s Century Farm Walnut hand-scultped hardwood collection in allspice.

The “home escape” vignettes are being published in each magazine that took part in creating a concept. In addition, each is being featured nationwide throughout the summer in a half-hour syndicated television special, “Destination Home: Cool Kitchens & Baths,” produced by Better.tv. The show can also be viewed on www.Better.tv.
