St. Louis—Featuring the state-of-the-art in
wood flooring technology and some of the most beautiful floors ever produced,
the winners of the 2002 Floor of the Year Contest have been named. The victors
were announced at the National Wood Flooring Association’s ( NWFA) recent 17th
annual convention. The competition for 2002 yielded 141 entries, featuring
installations completed between March 2001 and February 2002. Winning entries
were judged by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), with
Members’ Choice awards judged by NWFA members during the convention. A total
of 10 awards were presented, as well as one Honorable Mention.
In addition to the Floor of the Year
Competition, winners of NWFA’s 2002 Designer’s Choice Wood Floor Competition
were announced as well. This year marks the first year for this competition,
which featured awards in two categories, one for Best Kitchen Design, and one
for the Best Entrance Foyer Design. Both award-winning designs were installed
on-site at the NWFA 2002 Wood Flooring Expo. Awards for this competition
recognize a production team, including the manufacturer, distributor, designer
and dealer/contractor, all of whom must be NWFA members. Entries were judged by
an independent group of professional interior designers from the ASID.
