Aurora, Colo.—BonaKemi USA has been awarded GreenGuard Children & Schools certification for its hardwood and hard surface floor care products by the industry-independent, non-profit GreenGuard Environmental Institute (GEI).

GEI established standards and testing for indoor products with the goal of improving public health by helping manufacturers build safer products, noted BonaKemi USA’s Mike Gertz. “These products will not pollute the air with harmful levels of dangerous chemicals or particulates.”

The more stringent standards for the Children & Schools program were developed because more than half of U.S. schools have poor indoor air quality, which is among the top five human health hazards, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
