Beaulieu of America
Dalton, Georgia - Already a star in its own industry, carpet giant Beaulieu of America is headed for more widespread recognition. The world's largest privately-held carpet manufacturer will be featured as part of a new show from the Discovery Channel that looks at how big technology works to make our world smaller.

REALLY BIG THINGS is a show that "profiles the inner workings of massive man-made wonders", such as the world's largest dump truck in Alberta, Canada, and the enormous moving stage at the Cirque de Soleil's KA production in Las Vegas. For the Beaulieu segment, the cast and crew spent two days in Dalton filming and conducting interviews inside the company's 1,200,000 square-foot Seretean Manufacturing facility, as well as their 1.5 million square-foot distribution and 400,000 square-foot fibers extrusion facilities. In addition to taping the huge tufting and dyeing equipment, cameras followed the half-mile conveyor belt that carries carpet from the cut order to the shipping department. The distribution center's 126 dock doors and 24 million square yards of carpet storage capacity also drew considerable notice.

Series host Matt Rogers was impressed with the people as well as the facilities at Beaulieu. "Everyone was gracious and friendly, and they obviously know their jobs - these are huge and complex operations that run incredibly smoothly. It's pretty amazing."

REALLY BIG THINGS airs Wednesdays at 8 pm, Eastern and Pacific Time. It is produced by Pilgrim Films and Television, which also produces the popular reality programs American Chopper on The Discovery Channel and Spike TV's Ultimate Fighter, among others. The Beaulieu segment is expected to air in late August.

"Having the film crew here was exciting for us," said Mark Clayton, Beaulieu executive vice president of marketing. "It reminded us what a world-class operation we have. We get used to the massive scope of our business, but to an outside observer- no question - Beaulieu of America is a really big thing."
