Dan Stone
Chicago—Dan Stone has been promoted to president of Invista Interiors, replacing Alan Wolk. He will be responsible for Invista’s global interiors and flooring businesses, including residential, commercial, area rugs and automotive.

Stone has 25 years of management experience with Invista and DuPont, Invista’s previous parent company. As president he is responsible for the overall management of the Interiors portfolio of products, including the Antron and Stainmaster brands and Comforel fiberfill for sleep products. In addition, global regions of the Interiors business that are under Stone’s responsibility include North and South America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Prior to this appointment he served as vice president of nylon for Invista’s Performance Materials business, leading the global business that provides fibers used in airbags, sewing thread, military products and industrial textiles. He was also the global director for DuPont Textiles and Interiors’ airbag business and the Asia-Pacific regional director for Home and Industrial Textiles based in Hong Kong. In addition, Stone has held various operations positions at Savannah River Nuclear Plant, Invista’s nylon intermediate plant in Victoria, Tex., Invista’s industrial nylon fiber plant in Kingston, Ontario, and also worked as a financial analyst and in chemical sales.

Stone said his goals are to “deliver against the promise of [our brands] and continuing to strengthen that area by bringing innovation into this market.

“We have an owner that wants to grow and fund that growth,” he added. “We are looking at growing our base but using our interior business for growth, and looking at new investment in North America to continue to support the attributes of the yarn we have.”

One of the ways Stone said Invista is investing in the market is in manpower. “We are in the process of doubling the size of our field marketing organization and expanding our position in major markets from 17 to 31.

Jeff Gentry, chairman and CEO of Invista, called Stone “a proven leader” and “an experienced professional,” who is “aligned with Invista’s business strategy as well as understands and supports our strong commitment to brand leadership and to our customers.”

Day-to-day business unit management under Stone remains in the hands of existing, long-term leaders, Gentry noted, including Bobby Berrier, vice president of commercial and transportation; Steve Griffith, vice president of residential flooring, and Ana Torrence, vice president of home and hospitality interiors.
