Ellijay, Ga.—Blue Ridge Industries has partnered with fiber producer Nylene Canada to introduce residential carpets containing recycled content nylon 6 that can be recycled at the end of their useful life.
The mill’s Blueridge Home residential carpet styles now feature Natiq Home and Natiq Envirohome nylon.
“By introducing the Natiq brand into the Blueridge Home collection, we are taking the next step in residential carpet development offering performance, lasting beauty and a commitment to sustainability,” said Mike Gallman, president of Blue Ridge.
“By combining superior commercial manufacturing processes with distinctive design and performance, Blueridge Home creates Art For Your Floor,” he added. “We are selective when implementing retailer programs in order to ensure that we maintain the level of quality our products provide. Using only top quality yarns and award-winning designers, Blueridge Home has created a sophisticated and unique, upscale line that is sure to please the most discriminating of customers.”
Gallman noted Natiq Home and Envirohome are “the intelligent choices for the environmentally conscious consumer.”
The word Natiq comes from the Inuit, the native people of the Arctic and other northern regions, and means valley floor. Natiq branded BCF nylon is renewable nylon 6 manufactured at Nylene’s facility in Amprior, Ontario, in a closed loop, fiber-to-fiber recycling manufacturing process that is currently the only depolymerization facility of its type in North America.
Don Nicholas, executive vice president and general manager of Nylene’s Amprior facility, stated that “the Natiq brand may be new to the marketplace but it has a tradition of years of integrity and proven quality. We are currently the only facility that is depolymerizing nylon and have been doing this for over 40 years. We have a long history of innovation and environmental practices.”
Every carpet made of Natiq fiber is covered by extensive warranties, including 10-year stain and soil resistant, 10-year abrasive wear and a 5-year texture retention guarantee.
