The CFI/WFCA installer training meetings provide hands-on learning opportunities. |

Kansas City, Mo.—The International Certified Floor Covering Installers Association (CFI) and the
World Floor Covering Association (
WFCA) have teamed up with a variety of organizations throughout the U.S and Canada to educate installers and sales reps on installation training. Both organizations have continually stressed the importance of education in the prevention of future problems and in maintaining customer satisfaction.
“Working with flooring installers who are conscientious alleviates many of the problems that should never happen if you are seeking repeat business,” said John Namba, executive director of CFI.
As a result of continuous developments in new products and techniques, installers should not expect to receive recognition for the amount of years they’ve been in the installation field, asserted Tony Buckhardt, team leader and training director for Carpet Cushions & Supplies Distributors, who had sponsored a CFI event in Milwaukee.
“Attending the latest education events takes precedence over how long one has been in the trade,” he said. “We cannot install flooring as we did two-three years ago.”
In the same way, Paul Harty, regional sales director of
Mohawk Industries, who sponsored an event in Minneapolis, highly recommends these courses, stating “the installers return with high enthusiasm, pride and advanced skills to work with Mohawk products.”
Given that its participants have been so enthusiastic, another course has already been scheduled for March 9 and 10, adds Chuck Campo of CFI and organizer of the Mohawk event.
Furthermore, “Namba did an outstanding job of providing our members with installation techniques as well as technical knowledge,” said Debbie Tott, executive director of the Washington Floor Covering Association. Thirty-seven installers and sales associates had attended the hardwood flooring seminar sponsored by the organization in Spokane. Additionally, 101 were present sponsored by its Seattle session.
Speaking at the Hanley-Wood Remodeling Show in Chicago, Namba said “CFI installers assure customers of guaranteed installation that will be worry-free for years to come.”
While the CFI/WFCA educational and training calendar has been prepared for the first half of 2007, officials note there is always room for more if an organization or association wants to sponsor an event. Training is available for all typesof flooring.
