Kennesaw, GA, September 20, 2006 -- Solutia Inc.‘s Ultron carpet fibers is pleased to announce the completion of the 19th judging of the annual Doc Awards competition which honors outstanding achievement in the field of contract interior design and product design. Conducted annually by an independent jury, the 2006 competition saw a record number of project and carpet mill product entries. “We were thrilled with both the quality and quantity of our entries,” said Marianne Cone, director, Solutia branded marketing, in response to the more than 140 projects and 20 carpet products submitted. “The Doc competition has earned a reputation as a benchmark for success in the field of interior design, and the breadth and beauty of the entries certainly attest to that.”

The 19th judging of the Doc Awards competition resulted in the selection of 4 outstanding design projects from a field of more than 140 projects, and 4 outstanding carpet products chosen from a field of more than 20 products from 7 carpet mill partners. “Our carpet mill partners use the competition to launch some of their most unique and innovative products. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase products to the design community,” said Cone. Judges for this year’s Doc Awards competition included:

“In nineteen years, the Doc Awards competition has grown in prestige in large part due to the caliber and quality of our independent jurors. Each of our judges brought an individual reputation for excellence in their work," said Cone, "providing a combined expertise second to none!" The winning projects and products will be announced at the Doc Awards press luncheon in New York City on Nov.29th.

The Doc Awards competition honors Dr. Robert F. “Doc” Docherty, a pioneer in the contract interior design industry, and one of the first to reach out to the interior design community.
