Woolsey Studios, recognized in 2005 as one of the 10 best firms for “Residential Architecture” by Arizona Business Magazine’s annual “Ranking Arizona” edition, was faced with the challenge of blending functional family orientated spaces with the aesthetics of contemporary art and architecture at the Fuller residence in Phoenix.
The Fuller’s maintain a beautiful collection of contemporary art, and the rest of the space was designed in a minimalist fashion to ensure that the artwork was the main attraction. A custom pivoting entry door swings 180 degrees, drawing you into the central quarter with its 14’ ceiling, concrete floor and an eight-foot panel window, which allows for an ever changing flow of natural light.

The Ashland Series in Cloud White, a trend setting tile with a unique rustic charm, was the perfect choice for the 5’ x 14’ backsplash in the Fuller’s kitchen, as the tile helped control and reflect the natural light that streams in from the large panel window.
“The kitchen is the focal point of the residence,” said marketing manager Daniel Woolsey. “It’s the gathering base, and since the Fuller’s like to cook they needed a backsplash that was beautiful and easy to maintain.
