San Antonio— Vitromex USA announced the opening of its new distribution center in Laredo, Tex. The 145,000-sq.-ft. facility was built in response to increased customer demand for the manufacturer’s products throughout the U.S.

The warehouse will store all Vitromex products including its recently launched Artemis Impervious Glazed Porcelain ( FCNews, Jan. 23/30), as well as its outsourced products. In addition, the facility has a 50-sq.-ft. side yard and 20 loading docks.

“Vitromex has experienced tremendous growth over the last couple years and we needed to take steps to keep up with this demand,” said Sergio Cardenas, the company’s president. “The new distribution center allows us more flexibility in delivering our product more quickly.”

With all flooring products available in one central location, the mill is now able to offer a 48-hour turnaround on full truckload orders, noted Ricardo de la Cabada, the mill’s operations manager. “Trucks will be ready to ship product 48-hours after receiving an order allowing for faster delivery to our distributors.”

Last fall, Vitromex expanded its current manufacturing plant in San Luis Potosi to produce Artemis which is warehoused in Texas to guarantee immediate availability, de la Cabada said.
