Salt Lake City—In a move that will help it better serve its customers,
Flooring Technologies, creator and producer of the
QFloors flooring software, has teamed with
Data Apples Corp.
The license agreement allows Data Apples’
Beyond Remote with ReverseConnect technology to be incorporated with the QFloors program. Beyond Remote allows a user to remotely control another computer from anywhere in the world in real time.
According to Data, with the ReverseConnect technology recently added to Beyond Remote, users can now provide remote support services to their customers quickly and easily, without concerns of being blocked by either routers or firewalls, while still providing security.
For users of QFloors this should prove to be a “valuable addition” to their software, noted
Giovanni Ciacchella, Flooring Technologies’ operations manager. “One of our biggest and most critical functions is providing support to the dealers who purchase our programs. This gives us a very effective method and ability to expand our support services without having to raise prices.”
The technology allows QFloors personnel to not only provide support and/ or training to any computer in the retailer’s network, but do so without actually having to be on site.
For example, a dealer has three stores and over a dozen computers. If support is needed on just one of them, Ciacchella explained, QFloors can immediately connect to it and provide assistance as if on the spot. In the past, that could only be done to the main or central computer while a technical person had to be sent over to service any of the others. In order for each computer to be connected via remote access, a specific license fee of $150 was needed per workstation, making it a quite expensive proposition.
“We used to provide all our customers with a copy of PC Anywhere in order to provide remote support,” he noted. “The new Beyond Remote allows us to support any customer at a moment’s notice, and it is easier to setup and connect than PC Anywhere.”
Servicing a problem computer is just one benefit gained by the partnership. “This will certainly help accelerate our free training program,” Ciacchella said. “Now, a person can go through a whole training session right from his workstation.”
While new customers to QFloors will be provided with the new Beyond Remote feature, Ciacchella said existing customers who were operating with PC Anywhere, can download the program from the support section of the company’s Web site—www.qfloors.com.
