Dalton—Hospitality broadloom manufacturer Thomas Industries has recently announced several high level management changes.
Effective immediately, Jerry Thomas, CEO, will assume the additional title of co-chairman of the board and will lead a special committee of the board focused on identifying strategic business opportunities.
Due to the rapid pace of change in the flooring industry, which includes rising raw material costs, consolidation of the supply chain and expansion of global markets, Thomas believes it is imperative to the company’s continued success to devote his energy and experience to identifying niche market opportunities where the manufacturer can be a global leader.
Thomas also announced
Dick Bierie has been promoted from senior vice president of marketing and sales to the position of president. Bierie, who joined the mill in 2005, has more than 30 years experience in the flooring industry, including positions as president of Olde Savannah Hardwood Flooring, president of
Mannington Commercial, and several senior positions with
Mohawk Industries.
In his new role, Bierie will be responsible for day-to-day management of the business. He will also become a director on the company’s board.
John Everett will continue as COO, with responsibility for manufacturing, product sourcing and business integration. Everett is supported by a team including Tim Hixson, vice president Superior Yarns, and Roger Miller, vice president Tufting Operations. Miller joined the company in March, and brings more than 30 years experience in the carpet and textiles industries.
Joseph Durnford, chairman of the manufacturer, commented, “the management changes Jerry is making are completely consistent with what I would expect from a rapidly growing company in a dynamic global market. We support his efforts to build a team which will ensure the company has the leadership and innovative thinking it needs to thrive long-term.”
