Carpet One Retailer Installs Flooring In Oval Office Article Number: 942
| | Nash Floor Company Carpet One spent nearly two weeks installing hardwood in the Oval Office of the White House. After ripping out the old hardwood floor, donated to the White House in 1982 while Ronald Reagan was in office, and the vinyl and cork floors below it, Nash installers, shown here, began the arduous project. “This is a particularly difficult job because each board has to be cut to fit the curved walls of the room,” explained Chris Nash, owner of the family company. “It was a very exciting opportunity for us—it is quite an honor to receive a request for flooring from the White House.” The flooring business has had a relationship with the White House since the ’60s, he noted. “We have been invited to install floors for many Presidents over the past 40 years.” Last year, Nash installed hardwood in the East Ballroom. |
