Minneapolis—Chris Killingstad has been named president and CEO of floor-cleaning equipment manufacturer Tennant Co. The young executive recently took over leadership of the Golden Valley-based manufacturer, succeeding Janet Dolan in the job. He also joined the company’s board.
Not long after being named the company’s new CEO, Killingstad, who joined Tennant in 2002, was named as “One To Watch in 2006” in the January issue of Twin Cities Business Monthly Magazine. His plan for Tennant during the next year or two: execute.
“In 2002, we established a new strategic direction,” said Killingstad. “And that’s when we planted this flag five to 10 years into the future that said we wanted to migrate from being a non-residential floor-maintenance company to being more of an environmental health-and-safety products and services company.
“At that time,” he explained, “we also realized
we wanted to be a much more profitable business,
a more global business and a more innovative business.” Tennant began as a lumber company and then later moved into floor cleaning under Killingstad.
