2011 BETEC Symposium: High Performance Light Framed Walls: Code Requirements, Durability, and Constructability Concerns
Article Number: 6999

Current code requirements for light-framed walls call for stud cavities to be filled with insulation. However, upcoming code changes will require thicker framing and/or additional insulation to be installed on the outside of the cavities or other significant changes to the wall construction.

We’ll examine these issues at the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) Symposium during the National Institute of Building Science’s Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the Ecobuild America Conference, December 5-9, in Washington, D.C. The symposium will address soon to be required levels of insulation, their potential benefits and the challenges for the building process and building performance.

Attend the BETEC Symposium:

• Gain valuable first-hand information on insulation for light-framed walls.
• Learn about the different types of high R-value walls, as well as durability and code issues for fire, structural and cladding attachment.
• Hear presentations on field studies.
• Get answers from the experts during a round-table discussion.
