SNOWBIRD, UTAH—Three days at 12,000 feet in the Wasatch Mountains of the Rockies was an appropriate setting for QFloors’ 10th annual conference last month. It was literally an event of higher learning.

The conference is the place to clear up concerns about the company’s software, fine-tune operating skills, learn about new features and network, said Chad Ogden, CEO of QFloors. “Attendees get and give input on their business processes and what works for them. Each dealer has both shared and unique needs for his operation, and these conferences give the opportunity to address those.”

General and breakout classes were held across a range of topics, including getting the most out of specific QFloors products or features like QEstimator II, Document Manager, QReporter and QSched; helping users understand the importance of properly prepared financial statements; practical courses on how to avoid inventory imbalance; various book-keeping procedures including journal entries, paying multiple customer invoices with one check, managing refunds, vendor claims, and partial reception of products.

“We also discussed the importance of doing more business via B2B and how QFloors is equipped to help them capitalize on all the technological benefits the industry now offers,” Ogden said. “We wanted to stress that B2B is more than downloading price lists, and not using all of it is a costly mistake.”

In addition to general meetings and breakout sessions, the convention provides a platform for one-on-one meetings with the business’ management. Trent Ogden, COO of QFloors, said the conference provides customers’ input on future generations of the system to be considered for the upcoming year’s development priorities.

Overall, the conference was considered a success by QFloors’ executives. Users found the conference successful, too. “The most helpful aspect of the QFloors conference was the group synergy that takes place when you meet face to face with a number of users, all with specific needs,” said Earl Swalm of Carpet One Floor & Home, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. “Together, common threads come together to help make a great software product even better.”
