FEDERAL WAY, Wash., November 9, 2010 - Weyerhaeuser's South America Sales and Marketing Division and Global Market Partners, Inc., (GMP) have created a partnership in which GMP will be the exclusive global marketer of the entire Weyerhaeuser Lyptus® Hardwood Flooring line. GMP will handle the sales, marketing, technical support and logistics for all Lyptus Hardwood Flooring. The move is designed to provide broader support to the flooring industry and enhance the growth potential of Lyptus flooring products.
GMP has been providing marketing and logistics for flooring brands around the world since 1994. The addition of the Lyptus line of flooring expands the company's eco-aware flooring options. GMP serves the North American flooring market from its national distribution center in Memphis, Tennessee.
Weyerhaeuser will continue to use its strengths in forest management and wood products manufacturing to provide Lyptus lumber for the production of the Lyptus flooring line.
"We look forward to all of the new opportunities that this partnership will provide to our current and future flooring customers," says Eric Anderson, Weyerhaeuser South America Sales and Marketing manager. "GMP's broad reach and existing customer relationships will allow us to offer Lyptus flooring in more markets."
Lyptus is a beautiful and durable exotic hardwood with several environmental advantages. It is derived from eucalyptus hybrid trees that mature within 14 to 16 years of planting. By comparison, temperate species can take decades to mature. Rapid growth and careful management of the Lyptus plantations help to meet increasing demand for wood products and still ensure a continuing supply of hardwood for future generations.
Weyerhaeuser South America Sales and Marketing also manufactures and sells Lyptus veneer and lumber, along with its newly introduced Lumin™ plywood.
