WADESBORO, N.C.—CMH Space Flooring Products has acquired Ellis Flooring Sales Co., a division of the Southland Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ellis Flooring, a commercial flooring and supply distributor, “has successfully serviced the Carolinas and Virginia for over 50 years and will continue to operate as an independent entity and separate commercial division of CMH,” said Hoy Lanning, CEO of CMH. Breck Berkey will remain president of the Ellis division.

Lanning noted the two companies will complement each other because Ellis has a strong background in commercial flooring and supplies five branches throughout the Carolinas, while CMH has a strong residential and commercial following. “This should be a very good acquisition for us,” he added. “It will help us continue to provide great service to our customers and deliver the market for our vendor partners and drive our cost down by consolidating certain functions.”

According to Berkey, “Ellis will definitely benefit from this affiliation. It is an opportunity for us to strengthen our operations and logistics. Our combined staffs have decades of experience that will benefit established and new customers as well as current and future vendors.”
