In October of 1986, The New Jersey Carpet Club honored the chairmen of the two largest distributors on the East Coast at a banquet that paid tribute to their lifetime achievements in the industry. Fred Berman, left, of Benj. Berman Inc., and Eli Braunstein of Kane Carpet were celebrated by a record number of attendees who were not distracted by the sixth game of the World Series between the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. Kane and Berman won the day and the Mets won the series.
