Since TV news anchor Walter Cronkite appeared in this space last month, it is fitting that the celebrated television personality Ed McMahon be next in the spotlight. With him in the photo is Art Williams, left, president and CEO of Mannington from 1969 to 1987. McMahon, Johnny Carson’s sidekick on the long-running “Tonight Show,” was Mannington’s spokesperson in the mid-1980s and helped elevate the company to a nationally-recognized brand name. The photo was taken prior to a teleconference hosted by McMahon in 1986, which introduced Mannington’s Allusions vinyl flooring. Cronkite and McMahon died recently, weeks apart.
