DALTON—Less than a year after the
Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) earned accreditation as a product-certifying body from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) (
FCNews July 7/14), its Green Label and Green Label Plus programs passed their first Surveillance Audit by the Institute.
Werner Braun, CRI’s president, said while the organization is “pleased our Green Label programs came through the ANSI audit with such flying colors,” it is not resting on its laurels. CRI plans to expand ANSI certification to its Green Label adhesives and cushion programs, and eventually include all CRI signature programs.
Recognized nationally as the indoor air quality program for the soft flooring industry, including California’s Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), and the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building rating system, the programs have seen rapid growth over the past year, Braun noted.
