Mannington Earns Environmental Certifications for Hardwood Flooring
Article Number: 4313

Salem, NJ – March 20, 2009 -- Mannington Mills, Inc. announced today that it has earned both Phase 1 and Phase 2 certifications from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for the company’s domestically-produced engineered hardwood flooring products.

Mannington was able to achieve this certification almost one full year before the mandated deadline for Phase 2 compliance because it already uses a “no added formaldehyde” (NAF) adhesives system for these products. Its High Point, NC, manufacturing facility has been using NAF systems for over 15 years.

“Good indoor air quality characteristics are a key product feature of all Mannington floors, and it’s a topic of keen interest to both our residential and commercial customers,” said Dave Kitts, Vice President – Environment, at Mannington Mills. He added, “We’re very proud to have a long history of using NAF systems, and to have accomplished Phase 2 with plenty of time to spare.”

Mannington also imports a line of hardwood flooring from Mannington Certified Vendors outside the United States. Those suppliers already meet Phase 1 and will earn Phase 2 compliance later this year, well ahead of the January, 2010 deadline.
