Las Vegas, Nevada (January 30, 2009) – In response to discerning buyers who prefer the time-honored tradition of wool carpets with today’s creative twists, and for those seeking sophisticated solutions in sustainable fibers, Masland is introducing 16 new wool styles at Surfaces 09. “This year’s wool introductions are being met with enthusiasm on many levels,” says Masland President Kennedy Frierson. “In addition to elevated styling and innovative designs, our wools offer the environmental friendliness that buyers are seeking.”
Trafalgar is a fine example of one of Masland’s new wool creations. This
Wools of New Zealand broadloom features subtle blends of colors available in 17 colorways. Notting Hill, another Wools of New Zealand product, is a cut loop tonal featuring a woven look in its classic medallion motif and is available in 16 colors.
Chesapeake, a tufted, textured and dense wool, features a lined pattern and is available in 13 stunning colors. Laurel, another tufted wool product, displays a laurel branch forming an organic trellis pattern.
Arrezo, Troubadour, Lindenhall, and Montevallo were intentionally designed for today’s color trends in a range of styles to suit any design sensibility. Ecru, silver- blues, brick -reds and more are displayed in these woven wiltons with the precision of needlepoint. Level loop, crisp and smooth, the texture spells luxury.
For traditionalists, the classic Persian look has reemerged in new color combinations and patterns. Imari, a tabriz, highlights Persian flowers in a trellis pattern with a modern twist; choose from six sumptuous colorways. Alexia, inspired by antique wilted carpet from the Arts & Crafts period, features medallions and comes in nine colors. A traditional vine and floral motif with a modern interpretation sums up Emporium, available in eight colors. Florentine,a classic damask, features a soft, antique application. Cloisonne, a very ornate, formal, and detailed pattern, has a tiny, silk-like thread running through it for extra sheen and comes in today’s fashion-forward colors.
Parliament embraces a small check pattern. Baroque features a filigree pattern. Cromwell, a textured wool, wraps up the stunning collection of Masland’s 2009 wool introductions.
For centuries wool carpets have lent beauty and comfort to homes around the world and this natural fabric continues to be the most beautiful, comfortable and enduring fiber used in floor covering today.
“No synthetic fiber can match wools’ natural softness, resiliency and stain resistance,” Frierson said. “Our customers are appreciating both the aesthetic benefits of wool, and its sustainable qualities. Wool is not only luxurious, it comes from a rapidly renewable source.”
Many of Masland’s Fine Wool Creations are designed to work beautifully as area rugs -- sized and finished to customers’ specifications. Also new this year is Masland’s handsome two-tiered display that eloquently showcases these priceless wools.
