WESTBOROUGH MASS.—Who said times were bad? For the family-run and operated
Flooring America franchise in nearby Franklin, things have been going quite well, thank you. Good enough to open a “satellite” store 16 miles away here.
For 40 years the Cocuzzo family has run a successful, profitable specialty retail business in a location many would not consider the “ideal” place—off the beaten path. But the new location, which recently celebrated its grand opening, is parked in a major retail hub with Lowe’s as a next door neighbor.
“It’s just odd that it took us 40 years to figure out the woods of Franklin, Mass., is not the ideal retail location,” said patriarch Joan. “Our word-of-mouth consumers—if they can find us—comprise the majority of our customer base. We do a great job and get recommended! The new space is just the opposite—many people simply walk in every day.”
Though it is just one-fourth the size of the main store, the new location is a
Stainmaster Flooring Center, carrying all major brands of carpet, cork, hardwood, stone and a vast selection of area rugs, but no space for a warehouse.
Along with the family’s knack for quality, daughter Jenney said another reason why they have been able to grow is because of their affiliation with the Flooring America franchise.
“The Flooring America brand is growing all across the country. Consumers know they can trust and have confidence in a Flooring America dealer who demonstrates not just the product but the impeccable installation of the product.”
Concluded brother Anthony who operates the Franklin location, “It’s all about walking the talk.”
