This is a rare photo of Dan Schoen, left, president of Kaufman Carpet, the multi-store retail specialty chain, receiving an award from Gene Barwick, chairman of E. T. Barwick Industries. Schoen was honored at a banquet tendered by the United Jewish Appeal in June of 1970. More than 600 attended the dinner, which raised $1.5 million for the cause. Schoen was a founder of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation and Barwick was a strong supporter in the early days.
