Manchester, N.H.— CCA Global Partners and the
Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) have announced a benefit golf
tournament which will take place at the Marriott Ever-green Resort in Stone
Mountain, Ga., on Sept. 25. The CCA Global Partners/ Floor Covering Industry
Foundation’s First Annual Charity Golf Tournament will benefit the FCIF, an
organization founded 20 years ago to focus industry attention on the health,
human service and welfare needs of people in the flooring industry in times of
life-altering medical hardships. “The FCIF is a cause that is near and dear to
our hearts,” said Alan Greenberg, co-CEO of CCA. “This tournament will be an
opportunity for our industry to gather together and raise funds for a very
important cause.” ‘Unique Lifeline’ “The Foundation has been a unique lifeline
for members of our industry family who find themselves in need of financial
assistance,” said Howard Brodsky, co-CEO of CCA. “Its help has been consistently
delivered with compassion, confidentiality and dignity.
“Over the years, FCIF has assisted many
retailers and individuals in the floor covering industry when they had nowhere
else to turn,” he explained. “Because its approach has been low-key, the
Founda-tion has had limited funds to work with. This past year, many of us
committed ourselves to significantly increasing FCIF’s capital base by
establishing a new endowment fund. “The CCA Global Partners/Floor Covering
Industry Foundation’s First Annual Charity Golf Tournament is an important step
to help build a strong donor base and make the endowment fund a reality,” added
Brodsky, who is also a member of FCIF’s executive committee. “It is a critical
component in ensuring that FCIF can continue its ongoing operations, distribute
grants and create a mechanism for stable, long-term grant giving.” “This event
does two things,” said Christopher Davis, FCIF’s chairman and CEO of the World
Floor Covering Association ( WFCA), “it raises the awareness of the Foundation
amongst people who not only can contribute to it, but helps garner publicity for
the program amongst people who may need it. So, while it should be fun and
entertaining for the people who will be participating in it, it helps raise
awareness of the Foundation, as well.”
“I’m very excited with the interest and
positive activity that CCA Global Partner’s senior management team of Howard
Brodsky and Alan Greenberg has taken since they’ve joined the FCIF board about a
year ago,” said Larry Nagle, FCIF’s vice chairman and president of consulting
firm, N.L. Nagle. “Both are supporting FCIF in a grand manner. Be tween the golf
tournament and the evening program they have planned, it sounds like it’s going
to be quite a spectacular event.” Event Activities The golf event and evening
celebration will take place at the Ever-green Marriott Resort, located just 25
miles from downtown Atlanta. Surrounded by 3,200 acres of natural wooded beauty,
the tournament—which will feature a total of 240 golfers—will be played on
beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Stone Mountain. The day begins with lunch at
noon followed by the tournament, an evening of cocktails, dinner and an awards
ceremony. A block of rooms have been reserved at the Marriott Evergreen for
those wishing to stay over. “We are reaching out for support not only to our
industry members, but also to the thousands of local and national vendor
organizations that help in all aspects of our business,” said Greenberg, also an
FCIF board member. “We’ve set up a special Web site, www.ccaglobal.com/fcifgolf,
for registration and information,” he concluded. “The site went live on Aug. 26,
and we urge all of those who are interested in attending to log on, register for
the event, and support the important work of the Foundation.” For more
