Pure Earth acquires Nycon, changes name
Article Number: 3550

TREVOSE, PA.—Pure Earth, a publically traded diversified environmental company, has acquired Nycon, a provider of fiber products and services to the concrete industry and changed its name to New Nycon.

Simultaneous with the acquisition, New Nyocn introduced Nycon-G, a patented, ecofriendly, reinforcing fiber manufactured from waste carpet.

Bob Cruso, president of New Nycon said, Nycon-G represents “a breakthrough in green building technology. It is the only fiber on the market today that has no net negative impact on the environment.”

Available in both nylon and polypropylene blends, he noted a number of points as to why Nycon-G fibers increase the value of fiber-reinforced concrete in green building:

• Are manufactured sustainably through a patented process from recycled carpet.

• Extend the useful life of post-consumer carpet instead of increasing landfill burden.

• Utilize a readily available waste that saves water and reduces emissions.

• Reduce reliance on natural resources.

• Are more cost-effective than traditional synthetic reinforcing fibers.

• Same or better performance qualities.

• Enhance LEED eligibility.

In addition, Cruso said Nycon-G reduces the need for wire mesh and prolongs the service life of all cement-based products and decorative concrete applications.
