Article Number: 3458

DALTON—In an effort to strengthen its senior management team, Tandus announced the promotion of Ralph Grogan to COO. He previously held the position of senior vice president for three years.

“I look forward to my new role at Tandus and am excited to carry forward our strong reputation for design excellence and sustainability,” Grogan said. “I am proud to be a part of such a forward-moving organization.”

Under his new title, Grogan will focus on the continued growth of Tandus’ three product brands—C&A, Monterey and Crossley. He will also maintain global business developments.

Glen Hussmann, CEO and president of Tandus, said he’s proud to be working with Grogan as a member of the Tandus team. “Ralph’s leadership will influence our business globally and across functions as we make strides to gain market shares in all major segments that we serve.”

Grogan joined Tandus in 2002 as president of its Monteray brand. Over the years he has gained extensive experience in the commercial flooring segment, specifically in sales, marketing, operations and product development. He will continue to based at the company’s headquarters here.

In other news, Tandus introduced GreenSamples—a virtual sample folder— to minimize the company’s environmental footprint by decreasing the amount of physical carpet samples used.

“Currently, once a swatch of carpet is removed from a book, the book is incomplete until that carpet is replaced,” explained Lee Schilling, senior vice president. “As we create a new vision to reduce our environmental footprint, Tandus has also enhanced the shelf-life of sampling folders with easily replaceable, digitally modeled images.”

The patented sample book includes tear-off pads for each colorway—including 25 color-accurate digital images replacing physical carpet samples in each folder. The folder is therefore used in the same manner as a regular sample book, but the specifier is now encouraged to tear the color swatch out of the folder—with up to 25 uses per color.

On the back of each sample sheet are also lists of positive environmental impacts and benefits, such as:

• The simulated carpet color is accurate and printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper, making them 100% recyclable.

• Using paper samples reduces the amount of petroleum-based resources used to manufacture nylon, primary and secondary backings.

• Virtual image samples use 95% less energy to manufacture than carpet.
