ANAHEIM, CALIF.—
Brooks Mancini, chairman emeritus of
B.T. Mancini Co. in Reno, Nev., will replace
Donny Phillips, CFE, president of
Atlanta Flooring Design Center in Suwanee, Ga., as chairman of the
World Floor Covering Association (
WFCA) on July 1. He will serve in this role for one year. Phillips will take over as immediate past chairman.
Mancini is excited to take on his new role, saying, “My focus as chairman will be to bring additional value to WFCA members as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
Others with the WFCA, including
Chris Davis, president and CEO, share his sentiment. “We are delighted Brooks is coming on as chairman. His approach has been more in line with our long-term goals, which is nice because we won’t have to start at ground zero. He will be very supportive and focused.”
Mancini reiterated Davis’ thoughts, saying, “Unlike past chairs who come into office with their own set of goals, I’m on board with WFCA’s long-term strategic plan devised in September 2007.”
Some key points of the plan Mancini and Davis pointed to are a new Internet initiative, a new consumer publication launching in the fall and the association’s 50-year anniversary.
“WFCA wants to be the honest broker of information regarding all floor covering products,” Mancini said. “We want to drive people to WFCA’s Web sites and publications to educate the consumer on all flooring segments. We also want to take this, our 50th anniversary year, to honor all past presidents and members of the organization.”
Mancini, a 47-year industry veteran, has been an active member of the WFCA board since 1998. He has previously served in the roles of vice chairman and treasurer/CFO. He also chaired the association’s finance committee and governmental relations committee.
Also elected to the board were: Nick Freadreacea, president and owner of The Flooring Gallery in Louisville, Ky., and Paul Johnson, president of Interiors One-
Carpet One in Tulsa, Ok., as vice chairmen; Scott Steel, president of My
Flooring America in Webster, Tex., as treasurer/CFO, and Jim Walters, owner and president of Macco’s Floor Covering Center in Green Bay, Wis., as corporate secretary. This team, along with Manicini and Phillips will make up the WFCA’s executive committee.
The association also elects a third of its board each year to fill three-year terms. Newly elected, full-term directors, also to take office July 1, are: Ted Gregerson, president of
Abbey Carpet & Floor in Anniston, Ala.; Phil Koufidakis, president of Baker Bros. in Phoenix; Donna Mudd, area rug manager for Sam Kinnairds Flooring in Louisville, Ky., and Jim Traweek, president of PS America in Longwood, Fla.
