CHERRY HILL, N.J.— Industry retail veteran Maryanne Adams has been named president and CEO of Avalon Carpet Tile and Flooring, one of the industry’s largest retailers in the nation.

Adams takes over following the unexpected passing of company founder John Millar ( FCNews, April 7/14). A 20-year veteran of Avalon, Adams has spent the past 12 years as the retailer’s executive vice president. Her assent to Avalon’s top position was decreed by Millar, who directed that “Adams continue his vision as leader of the company he had formed.”
