KENNESAW, GA.—The Mohawk Group announced that all nine of its commercial manufacturing facilities are now ISO 9001:2000 certified to the quality management standards of the International Organization for Standardization.

Delivering quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing, this quality management certification credits The Mohawk Group—including Karastan Contract, Lees Carpets, Bigelow Commercial and Durkan Hospitality—as the largest in the industry to achieve continual improvement in quality performance, specifically in its manufacturing procedures, company practices and policies.

“Achieving ISO 9001 certification is a testament to our ongoing efforts to produce high-performance, superior quality carpet products,” said Robert Devlin, director of Mohawk commercial quality for The Mohawk Group. “This achievement is also a tribute to the culture of excellence embraced by all Mohawk employees and is the result of ensuring accountability at each and every level of our organization.”

Following a comprehensive audit of all facilities’ quality-related processes, including manufacturing and business practices, the company demonstrated an effective, systematic approach to ensuring customer satisfaction. “Our ability to improve upon and develop innovative new products and technologies enables our customers to specify the very best in commercial carpet,” said Al Kabus, president of The Mohawk Group. “The ISO 9001 certification is a coveted distinction that sets us apart in today’s marketplace, reinforcing the powerful value of The Mohawk Group’s proactive approach to quality, high performance carpet solutions, not only in meeting the rigorous requirements of this certification, but also in meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers.”

Seven of the Mohawk Group’s manufacturing facilities throughout Georgia and North Carolina—including Dalton, Dublin and Chatsworth, Ga.; and Eden and Greenville (two) N.C.—received their ISO 9001:2000 certifications during a ceremony Jan. 17, joining the company’s Glasgow, Va., and Landrum, S.C., facilities, which were previously certified.
