Hicksville, N.Y—Less than a month after closing it doors, the management and employees of Wood Flooring International (WFI) have regrouped to form Brandywine International Hardwood.

Launched Nov. 8, Brandywine includes the same team of industry veterans from WFI, including John Himes as president, Mike Tucker COO/ CFO and Andy Gallo vice president of the Wood Floor Resource Group—Brandywine’s commercial division. In addition Bill Jopling will be CEO when he is done with WFI.

“All remains the same,” Himes told FCNews. “The main difference is I now have an ownership stake and there is additional minority outside equity investors.”

As proof everything is as it was, Brandywine has acquired the exclusive rights to all brands, Web sites and trademarks of the old company.

“We have worked with all the former suppliers and customers of WFI to ensure there will be no interruption in product continuity,” Himes explained. “All current displays and product samples can and will remain in place without any interruption.”

While everything on the surface appears to be the same with Brandywine compared to WFI, he said there are a few things executives learned from the latter’s downfall to ensure it will not happen again: “In this market an even stronger focus on extending credit as well as monitoring how much any one customer may have in the pipeline that could be affected in a surprise shut down; in markets that are in a fast run-up phase, be ever diligent on growing the business, but also have a clear plan on what to do when markets slow, and constantly explore new opportunities as channels and customers evolve and obviously, tightly monitor expenses versus revenue gains.”
