Indianapolis, Ind.—A half dozen One
Mannington dealers here joined forces to stage The Great Indiana Carpet And
Flooring Sale on July 26, 27 and 28 at Mr. Wise Buys Factory Clearance Outlet.
The event attracted approximately 1,000 people, all eager to shop and buy. The
event was conducted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from noon
to 6 p.m. on Sunday, which was the strongest sales day. The most purchased
product was laminates, though the other flooring material fared well.
The six One Mannington retailers included
Carpet Mania of Columbus, Deno Decorating of Lafayette, Floor Fashions of
Plainfield, Kenter’s Flooring To Go of Crawfordsville, Shelbyville Paint &
Wallpaper of Shelbyville and Flooring by Stretch Rite of Indianapolis. The sale
was organized and supported by Irvin Kahn & Son, Mannington Mills and
Classen USA. During the weeks preceding the sale, the participating dealers
shared a coordinated advertising campaign in regional and local newspapers,
local signage and custom television spots. Consumers enjoyed a broad selection
of flooring products displayed in two acres of air-conditioned comfort. There
were many rolls and remnants of carpet, area rugs, resilient goods, hundreds of
pallets of ceramic tile, pre-finished wood and laminate flooring presented on
customized racks.
Consumers were able to finalize their
purchases with an assortment of more than 3,000 pieces of coordinating wood
trims and moldings, underlayments, adhesives, and carpet cushion products. For
the most part it was cash-and-carry but the dealers had a third party standing
by offering a delivery service. All the dealers offered payment terms of up to
six months. The three-day sale was so successful that the six One Mannington
dealers plan to do it again.
