FCICA holds best attended mid-year meeting

Boston—With an expanded format featuring educational sessions and an organized group dinner, the Floor Covering Industry Contractors Association’s (FCICA) annual mid-year meeting was not only the best attended ever but, close to twice as many people as normal showed up for the two-day event.

“What a time we had,” said FCICA chairman Christopher Capobianco of Flooring Answers . “For the first time we had educational sessions and a group dinner as opposed to strictly a business meeting.”

He explained this concept is more in line with the organization’s mission of offering education and “gives everyone a small taste of what our annual convention is like. We also partnered with the Northeast Floor Covering Association and had local contractors and associates join our educational sessions.”

Seminars presented at the meeting included, “Leadership versus Management” by Wally Adamchik of Firestarter Speaking and Consulting, and “Concrete Moisture Testing Update,” taught by both Capobianco and Tom Rochenski of BE Protimeter.

Capobianco noted the sessions were picked by the convention planning committee which wanted one related to business and one that was more technical in nature. “[Wally] has presented to us before and was well received so we asked him to come back again with a new topic.”

Because concrete moisture remains such a hot topic, he added, the committee decided to repeat the one presented at FCICA’s convention in March.
