Butler-Johnson has appointed Clay Covington vice president. He has been with the company for four years as sales and general manager of the firm’s flooring division.
Recently named 2005 Young Executive of the Year by the
National Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD), Covington has been instrumental in the development of several key promotional events that have contributed to record-breaking sales at Butler-Johnson, noted a spokeswoman for the company. Among his accomplishments since joining Butler-Johnson include conceptualizing a two-day summer sales promotion that has grown into a fourth annual event, the largest single sales event in company history.
Covington’s holistic view of the industry includes his continued efforts in supporting the annual Surfaces trade show, she noted, for which he has received an award from the show’s owner, Hanley-Wood, two years running. Covington’s vision for the division includes his committment to further develop Butler-Johnson’s core Mannington business as well as developing other niche lines that have the potential to grow and add diversity to the Butler-Johnson offering.
