CarpetsPlus Retailer Of The Year

Las Vegas—Just prior to Surfaces, the various groups under the Alliance Flooring banner gathered at the Riveria Hotel & Casino for its national convention. Included were members of CarpetsPlus Color Tile ( FCNews, Feb. 6/13), Carpetland Color Tile and Floorco.

As part of the three-day event was Alliance’s ninth annual Awards Dinner & Ceremony where members of each division are honored for outstanding service over the previous year.

The CarpetsPlus Retailer of the Year honored two members—The Hoffman family of Home Interiors in Green Bay, Wis., and Wendy Werner of Carpet Town in Milwaukee.

“As the finalists were determined,” explained Ron Dunn, Alliance’s Co-CEO along with Jon Logue, “it became impossible to choose one winner for the coveted prize. Both were equally deserving. They exemplified value, integrity and growth, and also embraced new concepts, provided a culture of continuous improvement and established a noteworthy track record for sharing ideas.”

The Carpetland Retailer of the Year went to the Caputo family of Carpetland USA in Dothan, Ala.

“The Caputos are active members and work closely with other members to develop advertising, mechandising and product selection,” said Logue.

The Floorco award is called Business Owner of the Year since this division is unlike the other two which are more traditional buying groups. Floorco is a direct-to-the-trade operation catering to the designer, architect and builder communities. Taking home the top prize were Ken O’Herrin, Nancy Anderson and Mark Little who own Floorco of Raleigh in North Carolina.

“These enterprising owners opened two locations in 2005,” said Dunn, “and plan to open two more this year. They have played integral roles in developing Floorco’s vision as well as networking and sharing ideas with other members.”
