| Article | Carson, Calif.—Pedross, a leading floor molding and trim specialty manufacturer from Italy, has partnered with cork flooring producer Nova Distinctive Floors to bring its line to North America. Paul Puskar, Nova’s national sales manager, noted Pedross has been a leader in this segment in Europe for 50 years. “It’s one of the oldest and largest companies that specializes in flooring accessories. It currently distributes its products in over 40 countries and North America is pretty much the final frontier.” He explained the reason why Pedross has waited until now to venture into this part of the world is, “it wanted to make sure it had the right products and merchandising materials because the U.S. has some unique looks and ways of doing things.” Nova is making available the Italian manufacturer’s signature FSC certified 100% natural veneer surfaces, which, he said, “are available in over 100 real wood species, including all the exotics such as Jatoba, Kempas, Ipe, Rosewood, Tigerwood, you name it. There’s even pear and apple. Just about any wood you can think of is available. “And,” Puskar added, “the best part is, they are far less expensive than what is currently in the market, by as much as one-third the price depending on the specie and type of molding being used. Pedross is so confident of the quality of its products, all floor accessories come with the company’s 25-year warranty. By make such a large variety of species available, Puskar said it “allows better coordination with all flooring lines. It can also be customized for private labeling and is available in both pre-finished or unfinished. Plus, the veneer can be lightly sanded and touched up if need be.” Beyond just having a wide selection from which to choose, Puskar noted Pedross’ products incorporate technological innovations to help both dealers and installers. Technologically Advanced For instance, its Combistar T & Reducer profile “makes the perfect transition for level or differing floor heights up to one inch,” he explained. “For retailers, this single SKU product means they can reduce their inventory; for installers, it means less product to haul and a simplification on the job site allowing for a quicker, easier completion.” Nova is also offering Pedross’ Clipstar wall base system, which, he said enables faster installation and provides easy solutions for uneven walls, unsightly electrical wires and time-consuming surface finishing. It comes in over 40 styles and utilizes a clip system to hold the wall base in place. In addition to the actual products, Pedross, with the help of Nova, has developed a variety of supporting merchandising tools, including displays and P-O-P materials. The centerpiece is a portable 17X30-in board depicting approximately 65 species, along with actual samples. In addition, it shows off both the Combistar and Clipstar systems and gives information on how the products are made, what a veneer is, etc. While Nova has the exclusive rights to the Pedross line, it is seeking to establish a separate North American distribution network for it. “It’s a totally differently type of product from what Nova produces and we don’t want to mix them,” he explained. Interested distributors should call Puskar toll-free at 866/576-2458. He added any manufacturer interested in a private label or custom line should also call. |
