Article Las Vegas—Keith Campbell, chairman of Mannington Mills, has been elected chairman of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) during the organization’s annual meeting at Surfaces.

Since its founding, FCIF has been dedicated to financially assisting those who are, or have been affiliated with the floor covering industry who experience catastrophic illnesses, severe disabilities or other life-altering hardships. In the 25 years of its existence, the Foundation continues to ensure these philanthropic efforts—totally more than $1.5 million—are accomplished with compassion, confidentiality and preservation of dignity for the individuals concerned.

Campbell, a longtime advocate of the association had been its secretary/treasurer prior to being elected chairman. He replaces Larry Nagle who will not only continue to serve on FCIF’s Executive Committee, but was named chairman of its fundraising activities.

“I am honored to lead an organization of such importance,” Campbell said. “The Foundation continues to help those most in need and, as we look to the future, we will redouble our efforts to ensure we have the funding necessary to continue with our significant work. I am pleased that Larry will remain with us and focus on the fundraising efforts.”
Nagle noted, “I plan on focusing on continuing to raise funds and I know Keith’s organizational skills will help elevate FCIF to the next level.”

In addition to the moves of Campbell and Nagle, Steve Griffith of Invista was selected to fill the secretary/treasurer post. The Executive Committee is now comprised of the following: Campbell, chairman; Chris Davis of the World Floor Covering Association, president; Alan Greenberg and Howard Brodsky of CCA Global Partners, co-vice chairman; Jon Logue of CarpetsPlus/Alliance Flooring; Roger Marcus of Congoleum, and Al Wahnon of Floor Covering News and one of the founders of FCIF.

The following were elected to the board for a three-year term: Ed Korczak of the National Wood Flooring Association; Galen Poss of Hanley-Wood Exhibitions, the owner of Surfaces; Julius Shaw of Shaw Industries; Anthony Sturrus of Pergo, and Wahnon.

In addition to electing its officers, FCIF announced that its We Care promotion which was held during Surfaces was a big hit among showgoers. The 50/50 raffle was sponsored by Mannington, Invista and Hanley-Wood, and was won by Bob Shaw of MoCan Flooring in Kansas City, Kan. Davis said Shaw’s portion of the raffle was $3,825 “and he generously donated his share of the winnings back to the Foundation,” allowing it to keep the full amount raised of $7,663.55.

In other news, FCIF reported the fundraising promotions by National Floor Trends, a monthly trade publication, on behalf of Howard Olansky’s 50 years of industry service netted a total of $14,500.
