Article Finale Emilia, 26 September 2014 - As part of its ongoing search for innovative materials and new products for contemporary architecture, at Cersaie 2014 ABK is launching UNIKA and offering previews of its 2015 collections: Dolphin, Do UP and Resin'A.

Breaking down the traditional barriers between ancient and modern, Unika is the new ABK collection that expresses a newfound harmony of opposites, embracing a lifestyle that appreciates unusual combinations and the contrasts between precious materials and recycled surfaces. The Unika collection skilfully combines age-old stones with sections of worn concreted in a fascinating interplay of elements and layers.

UNIKA
Going beyond the traditional boundaries between ancient and modern, ABK has created Unika, a new collection that skilfully combines the age-old stones that for centuries have graced the floors of prestigious European homes with sections of worn concrete, almost as though to represent the process of ageing and maintenance performed on existing surfaces. The result is a fascinating interplay of elements and layers capable of interacting with contemporary architecture.

A far cry from banal ostentation and showy fashions, Unika expresses a newfound harmony of opposites, embracing a lifestyle that appreciates unusual combinations and the contrasts between precious materials and recycled surfaces. Blending different places, periods and styles, Unika is ideal for enhancing interiors in conjunction with the latest ABK collections.

The Unika collection comprises a wide range of colours, finishes and modular sizes and is ideal for creating original multi-format floor and wall compositions using panels up to 60x120 cm in size. In keeping with the Abk philosophy, the collection is complemented by a wide and exclusive range of accessories and decorative pieces designed for various uses in both public and residential spaces.

Unika creates an exclusive atmosphere that can easily be extended into the bathroom or outdoor spaces, for which purpose a special 20 mm thick high-traffic version is available.

For several months now, ABK has been using exclusive Auto-leveling® technology to produce ceramic slats in 40x170 cm, 20x170 cm, 30x120 cm and 20x120 cm sizes. Auto-levelling tiles have a small degree of flexibility that facilitates traditional installation and also allows them to be dry set without the use of grout or adhesive, making for rapid installation and removal.

Cersaie will also be an opportunity to unveil the new ceramic collections that ABK will be placing on the market in 2015. Dolphin is inspired by the surfaces of Venetian mooring posts, poles soaked with salt spray that like dolphins guide sailors towards the port, while Resin'A is part of a research project aiming to meet the needs of contemporary architecture, exploring the world of resins to highlight the consistency and colours of these materials.

The combination of ABK's renowned decorative expertise and research into materials technology has created the complementary Do-Up project. Conceived as a wallpaper style ceramic covering in a 60x120 cm size, it is produced in Wall&Porcelain, a novel material that combines the advantages of traditional porcelain (flatness over large sizes, strength and durability) with the characteristics of wall tiles (lightness and ease of handling).

ABK will be at Cersaie in Bologna from 22 to 26 September 2014 - Hall 16 Stand B34-C31
