| Article | Seeking to break away from a generic private equity office void of personal touches, the Stripes Group tapped ICRAVE to design their new workspace that appeals to their client base of cutting edge consumer product companies such as Art.com and Seamless. The freshly designed space occupies three spacious floors divided for various programmatic elements, from private executive offices to communal meeting spaces. Each floor utilizes an open floor plan, encouraging interconnectivity and collaboration, as well as thoughtful design elements such as a unique flooring application that combines custom-dyed Persian rugs and polished concrete with painted signage. With a newly constructed building located in the Meatpacking district, The Stripes Groups sought to mimic the neighborhood’s industrial vibe, and unlike other typical Midtown private equity firms in tall skyscraper buildings, they wanted the new space to have a settled and lived-in feel. ICRAVE decided to refresh and polish the concrete floors, making it seem as though Stripes Group had been there for years. In various areas of the office, the floors were painted to give the impression that the graphics were a part of the pre-existing space prior to Stripes Group moving in. For example, a logo was painted in both the main entry hallway, but also runs through one of the executive’s offices to again give the sense that the glass office walls were added around the floor graphics, when in fact it was intentionally painted to overlap both rooms. For personalization and acoustical purposes, ICRAVE worked with de Rigueur Vintage on hand-knotted Persian carpets that were reduced of their original color and overdyed with a single, bold color. This modern spin on the classic textile was applied throughout various executive offices, with a different color in each room, to add contrast between the industrial-themed concrete flooring, as well as compliment each office’s wall artwork.
