| Article | Portland, Ore.—In order to increase its marketplace, Buckwold Western has purchased Wanke Cascade, a distributor with three locations in the Pacific Northwest. Buckwold operates six full-service distribution facilities throughout Western Canada. By consolidating their individual strengths, both businesses can invest more in product, people and technology, noted Bruce Buckwold, president. “The success of any organization is determined by the enhanced value it brings to the marketplace,” he said. “Blending two successful flooring distributors together makes a great deal of sense and represents a key step in each of our corporate strategies.” “This acquisition only helps our customers and suppliers,” added Brian Radditz, Wanke’s continuing president. “It provides our suppliers with a larger distribution network and their customers gain increased value by bringing greater and better services to the marketplace. “Our companies are similar in many ways,” Radditz concluded. “We share similar philosophies and are family-owned businesses—our grandfathers were the respective founders.” Because it operates with a decentralized management structure, all of Wanke’s present management will remain at their respective posts.
