Article Dalton, GA - November 4, 2013 - The Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) is pleased to announce the hiring of Brennen Jensen to manage the California Carpet Stewardship Program, which has kept over 183 Million pounds of carpet out of California landfills since July, 2011.

In her new role, Brennen will be responsible for assisting existing and potential carpet recyclers and/or processors with general manufacturing, communication and business issues; managing the expansion of the Rural County Program that provides access to carpet recycling for consumers in rural areas; participating in regular visits and reviews of recycling facilities; and developing education, communications and outreach programs for targeted audiences.

Ms. Jensen is the founder and Director/Principal of Emerging Ecologies. She has led programs to create sustainable, engaged and resilient communities inspired by nature. In recent years, her efforts helped to secure over $38 Million in funding for environmental programs, and diverted over 4 Million pounds of waste from local California landfills.

Brennen has a BS in Environmental Science Technology and a BA in Spanish from Humboldt University. She is currently pursuing Master's level coursework in Biomimicry. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work in recycling, and waste and emission reduction.

"We are thrilled to have Brennen join the CARE team", says Bob Peoples, Executive Director of CARE. "Brennen brings a solid reputation and significant experience and understanding of the California marketplace to CARE. We look forward to successful growth of the Program under her leadership."

CARE is the Carpet Stewardship Organization for the California program, and works with carpet manufacturers, CalRecycle, carpet recyclers, and other interested parties to keep carpet out of the landfill and to recycle carpet through market-based solutions. To date, the program has distributed almost $5 million to carpet recyclers who process California post-consumer carpet materials. These funds are used to develop new markets, products and technologies to increase the amount of recycling of carpet discarded in the state.
