Article Chattanooga, Tenn.—The Dixie Group recently announced several major changes to its management team, including the resignation of Todd Vande Hei from his positions as president of Fabrica International and vice president of The Dixie Group.

Craig Lapeere has been named to replace Vande Hei, effective immediately. Lapeere served as president of Dixie’s Masland residential division and as vice president of The Dixie Group since last February, and previously served as vice president for Masland’s residential business.

Dixie also announced that Kennedy Frierson has been promoted to the position of president of Masland residential, effective immediately.

Frierson, who joined the company in 1993, most recently served as executive vice president of the Dixie Home division of The Dixie Group and previously served Dixie in a number of positions, including vice president of the company’s Bretlin division. (At press time, The Dixie Group had yet to name a replacement for Frierson as executive vice president of the Dixie Home division.)

Commenting on the management changes, Daniel Frierson, the company’s chairman and CEO, stated, “We very much appreciate the service given to Dixie by Todd and wish him continued success in his future endeavors. Craig brings over 10 years of successful experience with Masland’s residential division to his new assignment, and is well-suited to lead the Fabrica division. We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Kennedy Frierson to the increased responsibilities presented by his presidency of the Masland residential division.”

In other news, The Dixie Group announced that Joseph Jennings, Jr. has resigned as a director of Dixie, citing personal reasons.

Dixie’s board of directors subsequently voted to appoint Walter Hubbard as a director of the company, effective immediately, to replace Jennings. Hubbard retired earlier this year as president and CEO of Honeywell Nylon, a subsidiary of Honeywell International. Prior to becoming president and CEO of Honeywell Nylon in 2003, Hubbard had served in a variety of executive capacities in the textile and carpet fiber businesses of BASF Corp. since 1985.

“We appreciate the dedication and guidance that Joe provided to our company and to our board,” said Frierson. “His extensive textile industry background and experience have proven especially helpful to us during his tenure as a director of Dixie. We wish Joe the best and look forward to having Walt Hubbard join our board.”

Finally, Dixie Home will debut several new products in 2006. They include High Society, an aristocratic style featuring two tones of yarn and 100% Stainmaster nylon. It comes in 24 colors and has a seven-year stain and soil, and 10-year wear warranties, as do all of its new products. Le Grand is a small design with a short, trim pile in a cut and loop trellis pattern. It comes in 24 fashion colors. Rendezvous is a comfortable, carefree carpet with an upbeat pattern featuring a deep, soft pile. It is constructed of Stainmaster ExtraBody II nylon and comes in 15 colorways.
