| Article | Chicago, IL - June 11, 2013 - Tai Ping Contract, the leading manufacturer of premium carpet tile products for the corporate environment, is pleased to launch a new collection of all-wool carpet tiles. Habana is a suite of four contemporary designs inspired by the weathered architecture of Havana, Cuba, and the mystery of its old and often majestic buildings, plazas, and meandering cobblestone streets. Habana is available now. With a storied past almost 500-years old, Havana is a showcase for some of the most eclectic architecture in the world. This variety was a rich source of material for Tai Ping's designers, but even more so was the palpable sense of history that defines the city. Havana's architecture was once known for its cheerful colours. Today, however, these colours have faded and bold saturation has given way to a subtler, more complicated beauty. These washed-out hues evoke the drama, dignity and essential inscrutability of the past, and provide true design inspiration for the collection. "The worn architecture of old Havana is deeply alluring. Each aging layer of exposed, pastel stucco, documents moments and memories of an era that we can only begin to imagine and understand. It's all very humanizing and provided incredible inspiration for this collection." Habana comprises four distinct patterns - Armas, Prado, Viejo, and Malecon - and is shown in a muted palette that suggests the watercolour-like tones that now wash across Old Havana. Like all of Tai Ping's carpet tiles, Habana is machine tufted of pure wool and backed with PREMISE™, Tai Ping's own eco-friendly cushion backing.
