| Article | Greenville, S.C.—Rug producer 828 International has named Melanie Hayim to the newly created position of business development manager. In this position, Hayim will be responsible for sales in Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas, and will also be involved in the company’s product development and merchandising efforts. She will report to Mark Ferullo, vice president of 828, and is based in Chesterfield, Mo. Hayim has more than 18 years experience in the flooring industry, most recently as director of broadloom merchandising for the ProSource division of CCA Global Partners. Prior to this position, Hayim’s career primarily centered around area rugs. She has held management positions on both retail and manufacturing sides of the business, working for industry leaders ABC Carpet & Home in Delray Beach, Fla.; Baker Bros. in Phoenix; Shaw Rugs in Ringold, Ga., and Couristan in Fort Lee, N.J. In addition to having a successful track record in sales, marketing and operations, Hayim has a solid background in product development and rug fabrication. “Melanie is extremely talented,” said Ferullo. “Because her expertise is broad, we didn’t want her to wear just one hat within our company. We decided to create a position that utilizes her strengths in sales, product development and merchandising.” In other news, 828 has in-troduced two collections—Greenville and Focus—which answer different design, construction and fiber needs at competitive price points. The Greenville collection is named after 828’s hometown, “a state-of-the-art community with a rich history and bright future.” The beauty of this special place is reflected in a series of rugs, noted Ferullo, traditionally patterned in warm, inviting colors. Each rug is power-loomed of heat-set poly-propylene and has an extremely soft hand. 828’s Greenville collection is available in a full range of sizes, in-cluding 10X13-ft., and has a suggested retail price of $299 for a 5X8-ft. The mill’s Focus collection is made for those with an eye for contemporary design. The rugs are hand-tufted of wool in unique, artistic patterns that are enhanced with hand-carved accents, noted Ferullo. “A variety of colorways, from muted to bold, add to the excitement and versatility of this collection.” Focus comes in sizes of 4X6-, 5X8- and 8X10-ft. and has a suggested retail of $299 for a 5X8-ft. 828 International’s entire line will be on display at the Atlanta Rug Market, AmericasMart 6-F-1 and 3 and at Surfaces 2006, in booth #6410.
