| Article | Finale Emilia, 29 April 2013 - Innovation and personality in keeping with the finest Italian creativity. At Coverings, the most important American exhibition for the ceramic sector, ABK is showcasing its new collections based on creative design and high product quality. Demonstrating that technical and aesthetic research has surpassed the concept of imitation, these original solutions would be impossible to create with the natural materials that inspired them. First presented at the last Cersaie, the Soleras, Fossil and Downtown collections will be showcased from 29 April to 2 May at BOOTH 1945 in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. They will be displayed in their full versions following the excellent results attained at the Bologna show. The exhibition space, created by designer Mario Tombaccini from Studio Archdesign, shows off the new products to the full and expresses the company's strong identity, inviting visitors to explore the appealing spaces devoted to the products. DOWNTOWN emulates a range of materials to create surfaces inspired by metropolitan stories and atmospheres. Fragments of stone, pebbles and pavements have been transformed into a unique, innovative material in which the colour variations express a sense of belonging and become sophisticated ingredients of contemporary projects. The magic of wood comes to life in SOLERAS, a collection of planks inspired by the barrels used in the criaderas y soleras technique for ageing high-quality wines and spirits. The natural wood grain and the characteristic markings left by sherry and brandy during the time spent ageing in the barrels come together to create an original and unconventional product. FOSSIL is inspired by a natural material that has been transformed over millions of years. Trees that lived and grew in a remote age were buried and gradually transformed into gemstones, inspiring a unique and versatile collection that combines ease of use with powerful visual appeal. |
