Article LANCASTER, PA–Armstrong announced that it will initiate a four to six percent price increase in the United States and Canada on Residential Luxury Vinyl Tile, Laminate, Residential Sheet and Tile and select Commercial Sheet products. In addition, a 2.5% increase on Commercial Vinyl Composition Tile, and a three to ten percent increase on Installation, Maintenance and Accessories (IMA) products also will be initiated, beginning with shipments on January 23, 2012.

“As we anticipated in June, we are sustaining higher costs due to continued increases in raw material inflation beyond our previous expectation. We anticipate these higher costs to remain in place throughout 2012,” said Kevin M. Biedermann, senior vice president, Armstrong Floor Products, North America – Residential.

Armstrong has aggressively pursued manufacturing productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives to offset higher costs, but cannot keep pace with the sustained increases that have occurred over the last 18 months.

“For all manufacturers, the cost of raw materials continues to rise at an extraordinary rate. Despite the challenge, Armstrong is well positioned to leverage our scale to ensure a profitable value proposition for our customers,” said Dominic C. Rice, vice president and general manager, Armstrong Floor Products, North America - Commercial.
