Article | Washington—Contract Carpet Systems, a Carpet One dealer based in Beltsville, Md., donated more than $10,000 of Radici USA carpet to the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) headquarters here. Contract Carpet is a full-service commercial flooring contractor and also operates as Contract Carpet One. The company just celebrated its 34th year in business and is owned by Kurt Zanelotti. “I started in this business as a child working for my father, Anthony, our founder,” Zanelotti said. “We’re proud of our Italian heritage and the role Italians have had building this country and the nation’s capital, in particular. My grandfather was a ceramic tile setter who worked on many of the area’s public buildings and institutions, and my father followed in his footsteps. “This was a small way to give a little bit back to the community in which I was raised,” he explained. “It was natural to want to put an Italian-made carpet into the headquarters and Radici makes some truly beautiful woven wool carpet.” NIAF is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, nonpartisan educational foundation that promotes Italian American culture and heritage.
